In this film we head to the northern part of Scotland, above the Highlands, in search of the shadow of the woods, Japanese Sika. Notoriously difficult to stalk and elusive in their nature, this truly wild hunt (filmed early October) in the forests of Sutherland was a challenge, mainly due to the mild weather. Despite a masterclass in calling from our guide, Nathan Windle, it really proved to be like pulling a thorn out of your finger and given Owen’s experience also shows that it sometimes doesn’t go to plan.
